High-density octadecyl bonding on ultra-pure silica. Outstanding stability across pH 2–10. The workhorse column for pharmaceutical impurity profiling, API assay, and USP/BP method execution.
Lower hydrophobicity than C18, ideal for polar compounds and basic drugs. Excellent peak shape for amines and base-labile analytes at alkaline pH without ion-pairing reagents.
Pi–pi interaction with aromatic and conjugated analytes gives unique selectivity complementary to C18. Use as orthogonal confirmation or for analytes that co-elute on alkyl phases.
